Tom Valdivia, MD, MS is a successful healthcare executive with more than 20 years of experience founding, building and selling companies in the health care technology, provider accountable care services, health consumer and health benefits sectors.
Most recently, Tom co-founded and served as the Chief Health Officer at Bright Health (NYSE: NEUE), which offers affordable, benefit-driven Medicare Advantage health insurance where his responsibilities spanned clinical strategy, risk adjustment, Stars, and clinical and non-clinical operations.
Prior to Bright Health, Mr. Valdivia served as Co-Founder and President of Carol Corporation, which developed the first direct-to-consumer health services exchange. Carol provided strategic, technical and analytical services to large providers across the country including Texas Health Resources, Fairview Health Services, Iowa Health System and UMass Memorial. The Company was sold to Optum Insight in October 2011.
In addition to his role at Carol Corporation, Tom also served the role of Chief Medical Officer at Definity Health (sold to UnitedHealth Care) and was the Founder and CEO of Advanced Informatics.
He is a Board Member at SSM Health, one of the largest integrated delivery systems in the US, a Board Member at Intermountain Health, Canyons Region and a Senior Advisor at InTandem Capital.
Tom received his bachelor of arts degree from Carleton College and his doctor of medicine from the University of Minnesota.
