Jimmy Lee stands at the forefront of healthcare innovation, committed to transforming the ecosystem through relentless advancement. With pivotal P&L leadership at Anthem (now Elevance), he has spearheaded divisions overseeing $35 billion in premiums and serving 17 million members.
During his tenure at Anthem, Inc., Jimmy escalated through the ranks from Chief Underwriter, culminating in his roles as SVP & GM of UniCare, Inc., President of Consumer Division, and Senior Vice President of Commercial Segments. His strategic and financial acumen catalyzed three major turnarounds, boosted operating gains by hundreds of millions with significant membership growth. Notably, Jimmy orchestrated Anthem’s successful foray into the Individual & Small Group ACA markets, achieving the highest enrollment in the US and a $750 million operating gain in year-one of ACA when all competitors experienced significant losses.
Jimmy is a Senior Advisor at McKinsey & Company and his influence also extends to his board positions at Symetria Health and Laguna Health. His advisory expertise benefits Connect America, Vida Health, Solera Health, Health Plan Innovation Roundtable, XP Health, and Rightway. As NationsBenefits’ Chief Advisor to the CEO, Jimmy has been pivotal in the company’s explosive growth from 4 to over 5,000 employees and over 100 Medicare and Medicaid Plans. In 2023, his strategic guidance as a Board member was instrumental in AvMed Health Plan’s sale to Sentera Health and the successful sale of S&S Healthcare (TPA), where he presided as Chairman.
Jimmy is also an active member of the Investment Advisory Board at SemperVirens Venture Capital and a Limited Partner in HC9 Venture Capital.
Jimmy is a Western Illinois University alumnus with a Finance degree, Business Service program at the Indiana University Kelley Business School, and holds designations of CLU, FLMI, HIA, and MHP.
