Garry Choy, MD/MBA is a physician-executive with experience in startup, health technology, payor, and care delivery settings. His roles have spanned product development, clinical quality improvement, clinical application of artificial intelligence/AI, provider data management, provider network development, acute and ambulatory care delivery, regulatory and medical affairs, clinical operations, commercialization, business development, healthcare informatics, and data science.
Currently, Garry is the Chief Clinical Transformation Officer @ UnitedHealth Group (Optum & UnitedHealthcare), where he is focused on corporate clinical strategy & transformation, clinical quality, systems integration, clinical alliances, and innovation across payer, services, and care delivery businesses.
Garry is also the Co-Founder and Chief Medical Officer of Q Bio – a venture-backed digital health and medical device company (Founders Fund, Khosla Ventures, Andreessen Horowitz, Kaiser Ventures) building digital twin platform and rapid whole-body imaging hardware technology based on advanced computational biophysics – and the Co-Founder & Chief Medical Officer and Chief Compliance Officer of Andros, a ventured backed healthcare technology platform focused on automation and technology-enabled credentialing, provider data management, provider network management, and direct Medicare contracting.
Prior to his entrepreneurial endeavors, Garry was the Assistant Chief Medical Information Officer for Advanced Technologies at Massachusetts General Physicians Organization at MGH, where he was focused on quality improvement and health IT – managing applications for a data analytics platform and developing a web-based learning platform for clinicians.
Garry is a Board certified Radiologist with clinical expertise in cardiothoracic, abdominal, and emergency imaging and has served as a faculty member of Harvard Medical School & Harvard College. He has a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering & Biomedical Engineering from Columbia University, a Masters of Science in Operations Research/Economic-Engineering Systems from Stanford University, and a Masters in Business Administration from Johns Hopkins University. Garry completed medical training @ Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Brigham & Women’s Hospital, and Mass General Hospital.
