Erik Sossa is an independent advisor working with employers, industry groups and health care providers in continuous pursuit of expanding access to quality, effective and affordable health care for all employees.
Erik retired from PepsiCo, Inc. in December of 2020 as Vice President, Global Benefits and Wellness where he led the strategy, design and financial optimization of health & insurance, retirement, and wellness programs around the world. In his 24 years at PepsiCo and its affiliate the Pepsi Bottling Group, he held various roles in benefits, executive compensation, global mobility, and HR operations.
Prior to PepsiCo, Erik was a consultant with Mercer Human Resource Consulting where he provided actuarial and consulting services on pension, savings, and retiree medical plans.
Erik was an Enrolled Actuary under the Joint Board of Enrolled Actuaries (retired) and retired former member of the American Academy of Actuaries. He was and remains influential in the benefits industry via a variety of roles including: Former Board Chair and current Chair Emeritus of the ERISA Industry Committee, Sr. Advisor for the Employer Health Innovation Roundtable (EHIR), Co-chair of the National Drug Performance Collaborative, Former Board member of the Business Group on Health / co-chair of the Workforce and Wellness Strategy Institute, Former Board member of the Health Innovation Forum, Former Executive Council member of the Employer Benefits Research Institute at The Conference Board, and Former Chair of the Global Benefits Forum.
He is active in his community as Board member of the Green Chimneys School, a nonprofit organization helping students with emotional and behavioral challenges maximize their potential by providing residential, educational, and clinical services through nature-based and animal-assisted educational and therapeutic programs. Erik serves on the Executive Council of the Board.
Erik and his wife Dee reside in Northampton, Massachusetts and have two sons, Douglas and Timothy, and two grandchildren Rowen and Nathaniel.
