Hassan Azar has extensive experience driving innovation within employer health benefits plans via his experience at multiple Fortune 500 companies including US Foods, Kraft, Mondelez and Ford. Not only is Hassan a recognized leader in transforming the health benefits strategies at these companies, he was an early adopter of several digital health solutions and benefit design features that are now broadly used by employers across the globe.
Currently, Hassan serves as an advisor and consultant fostering the development of high-value healthcare point solutions and guiding employers as they re-imagine a better way to deliver healthcare benefits. He is passionate about building and promoting next generation healthcare solutions that improve the health of a workforce, reduce health expenses, and improve the patient experience.
Hassan is an advisor to the Employer Health Innovation Roundtable (EHIR), a coalition of large employers seeking innovation in the global health benefits space and serves as an Executive in Residence for the startup incubator Matter. He also serves as an advisor to numerous digital healthcare companies, providing guidance on the design and development of new healthcare programs to ensure their success including product design, commercial strategy, channel development, marketing, pricing, and partnerships.
Hassan’s deep understanding of the healthcare system began by working at both a provider and payor, first by managing outpatient clinics at Ascension St. John Hospital in Detroit followed by a position developing provider network strategies at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan. After serving in those roles, he worked as a benefits consultant at Willis Towers Watson assisting employers develop strategic approaches to their healthcare benefits.
Hassan has an MPH, MHA, MBA, MA and a BA from the University of Michigan. He also has a JD from the University of Detroit School of Law. He is currently pursuing an MS from the University of Michigan.
