Robert Slepin is an expert Epic and digital health advisor with more than 25 years’ of experience in healthcare information technology (HIT) leadership.
Robert is currently an independent advisor to several clients regarding healthcare AI, Epic, digital strategy and clinical/business transformation, including University Health Network (UHN), #3 World’s Best Hospital according to Newsweek. As an Emeritus CIO at Epic Systems Corporation, he advises and helps leading healthcare organizations to plan execute, oversee and realize value and ROI from large- scale Epic, digital health and enterprise IT projects, enabling transformation.
His extensive HIT background includes 15 years serving as CIO for US-based integrated delivery networks, health plans and population health companies; 12 years implementing Epic at multi-hospital systems in the US, Saudi Arabia and Canada; and 5 years in marketing and client services management for a hospital information systems vendor.
From 2017-2024, Robert served as a Project Director, Executive Advisor and/or Board Advisor for nine Epic implementation projects at leading hospitals in Canada. He was Senior Project Director, Epic, for UHN and Executive Project Director, Epic, for The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids), #2 Top Specialized Hospital – Pediatrics. Robert also played a dual role as Board Advisor and an Epic Director for 106-hospital Alberta Health Services’ $1.4 B CAD Epic program.
From 2010-2016, Robert held Epic and IT leadership roles in the US and Middle East including: CIO and Chief Product Officer for AxisPoint Health, a pioneer in population health management; Epic Project Director for Johns Hopkins Medicine International in Saudi Arabia; CIO of John C. Lincoln Health Network and Accountable Care Organization in Phoenix, installing Epic; and executive IT advisor for The MetroHealth System, a long-time Epic public hospital in Ohio.
Before 2010, Robert held CIO and executive IT roles in Northern California at Stanford Children’s Health, Sutter Health, LifeMasters Supported SelfCare, NorthBay Health and Delta Dental, and he was a manager with Management Systems Associates, an early provider of information systems to hospitals.
A Duke University graduate, Robert is a Fellow of the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) and has earned several professional certifications recognizing his depth of experience, training and expertise in health IT, digital health, project management, risk management and IT governance.
